the place to be
Berlin
Berlin is a capital city of Germany but does it actually have anything german in it or it is a something completely different?
Hello everyone, who reads this article!
Before I start with sharing my opinion about Berlin - I want to mention that I used to live in Berlin for a year and even now being a happy resident of Vienna I am a frequent guest there. So let's start.

Berlin is not Germany, Germany is not Berlin. I am not just making such a loud statement, although everyone knows perfectly well that Berlin is the capital of this wonderful country. Despite the great importance of this city not only within the country, but also on the entire world stage, almost no German qualities are inherent in it (except for the terrible incomprehensible and completely unnecessary bureaucracy and the inability to pay by card)

Let's go back to the phrase "Berlin is not Germany." Here is a list of German stereotypical things that will be alien to you in Berlin:

- Cleanliness
- Punctuality (the Germans are not at all as punctual as it is commonly believed)
- High standard of living (although it depends on the area of the city, because it is huge)

Everyone knows the history of the city, it was difficult, more difficult than in many countries, and this is all in 1 century. (Search Google for more). This factor greatly influenced the architectural component of the city (30 years of occupation by Russia were not in vain), but even more so on the people who developed their own concept of culture, insanely unique. For example, in Berlin, the genre of Techno music was born, and now remains the most important choice of lifestyle not only for young people, but also for people of all generations. Despite all the minor facts of discomfort mentioned above, which, by the way, are interrupted by the color of the city in the first 15 minutes, not to mention the longer stays, I want to note that Berlin is one of my favorite cities and places on the planet as a whole. Any spontaneous trip to Berlin works according to the principle: first I go, then I think.

I'll make a fuller post a little later with detailed recommendations. Let me summarize briefly: Berlin is not about architecture, people and the German language, it is a crazy mix of all of the above in incredible colors. Not just because it is called the European New York.
